Blommer Chocolate Summer Intern Program

Primary Purpose:
Provide support by assisting with projects and data reporting/analysis to develop new and innovative products within the R&D function. With hands-on training, the student will learn about the process of product development and complete projects that may be presented by the end of the semester to Blommer representatives.

 

General Program Overview:
This will be a paid position within our R&D department. The Intern will also work cross-functionally with the Quality, Production, and Engineering departments in order to learn more about production in a food processing environment and contribute to the greater good of the company.

Daily tasks will include making chocolate samples, preparing sensory panel, tempering chocolate, organizing samples, and general lab cleanliness activities. Data collection, scientific study, and project management will also be elements of this position. In addition, assistance with larger projects or application studies will be required.

 

Candidate Competencies/Requirements:

  • Must be at least a Junior in good academic standing (3.0 GPA or higher) or a Graduate Student in Food Science or a related field of study
  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task and maintain flexibility in a fast paced environment
  • Must possess a goal driven sense of urgency and customer service responsiveness
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be available full-time during the Summer for a period of 3-6 months with options to extend to part-time in the Fall
  • Must follow all the GMP’s and work ethic codes of Blommer Chocolate Co.
  • Must have local accommodations as we cannot assist in relocation
  • Hands-on position, work is performed in production facility and laboratory environment. Occasionally exposed to heat, cold, noise, dust
  • Must be able to climb ladder, bend, and stoop, stand for prolonged periods of time Requires extended periods of standing, walking, climbing, sitting Occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds
  • Must be able to taste and consume chocolate and related products
